He was a brand new Marine getting ready to deploy to Iraq. She was his waitress.
It's the kind of love story that country music songs are written about.
( just kidding Courtney!)
She wasn't even supposed to be working that night as she waited on a table of guys when one of them mentioned that Nathan was leaving for Iraq the next day. She said she wanted to "adopt-a-troop" that she could write to while overseas so she asked him for his address. He told her that he didn't know it at the time but asked her for her phone number and he would call her the next day to give it to her. She thought he was blowing her off...
but he called that night.
Their love story continued over the next several months as they exchanged letters and emails during his deployment. When Nathan was injured and being treated at a military hospital in Texas, their relationship grew stronger as they stayed in contact with phone calls.
Finally, they were reunited...when they met for only the 2nd time.
The rest is history.
My favorite part of their story?
The look in Nathan's eyes when he tells it. He and Courtney have the kind of romance that most people only dream about!
